my unique journey, from music education to overcoming chronic pain through pilates, shapes a holistic approach to breath control and movement. as a professional vocalist with over 800 hours of advanced yoga training and tens of thousands of hours of teaching experience, i've witnessed the transformative power of movement, breath, and strength training in bodies from all walks of life; and i’m committed to sharing that power with my community.

my studio is a sanctuary— a haven where people can embrace the pilates journey without the burden of a commute to santa cruz, gilroy, or monterey. it's a testament to my unwavering passion for movement, education, and empowering others to embark on their own transformative odyssey.

Marisa (or Mar) has been passionate about all types of movement from a young age. Their early journey through sports helped pave the way for their exploration into functional movement, dance and yoga. They have been teaching yoga and fitness for the last 6 years, with an emphasis on somatics and a trauma-informed lense. Most recently, they have found a new joy and passion in pilates. After experiencing chronic back-pain, Mar began weekly pilates, and soon found their body in less pain and subsequently much stronger and resilient! They are eager and excited to share a strong, fun and empowered practice with folks at Redwood Pilates!

With a background in Dance, Education and Yoga, Danna comes to Pilates with fresh eyes and a passion for learning and movement. Expect to be encouraged and cheered on as you get stronger, increase your flexibility, and develop coordination in Danna's thoughtful and challenging Pilates sessions.
